Ok folks... I put this off long enough I have to own up and bow down...
Late last year me and fellow
writer Adisa Banjoko got into a spirited debate around the election in which I predicted Hillary Clinton would win the
presidential nominee hands down. At the time she was 25% ahead in the polls. She had locked down endorsements from damn near every member of the
Congressional Black Caucus and pretty much every other major elected official and to be quite honest Obama simply wasn't doing it for me
in the beginning. I felt his politics was too middle of the road and after hearing him speak here in oakland, I was less than impressed. I felt like he was too
scripted.
Anyway, Adisa held dude down from day one and told me to watch out that dude was smooth and was gonna creep up on HillBilly and take her out and shake things up. I told him to put his money on the white woman and that Obama was just the opening act and a warm up sparring partner. Adisa said I was wrong and would eat my words. I said I would do no such thing until I saw her bow down and kiss the ring.
For a minute it looked like Hill was gonna go solo and run as an independent and thus my predictions would be true, but low and behold homegirl was right there on CNN telling everyone to get behind Obama.
So the bet was if Obama wins the nominee I would publicly apologize, put it out on myspace and admit that Adisa Banjoko who heads of the Hip Hop Chess Federation, is a great man who never waivered with his support for Obama.. So in honoring this bet, I will admit publicly that I was wrong, he was right.
I gotta be honest I wasn't really gonna do this but Adisa sensing that I might renig on out of our bet got to mumbling something about setting an example for his two beautiful young kids. He said it was my responsibility to not break my word and set an example of of owning up so his kids will know as Black men can be counted to follow up and be responsible. Yes, can you believe that? He went and played the kid card :-)
So there you have it. Print it. copy it. Savor it.. I was wrong, Adisa Banjoko was right
Enough said..

PS. Adisa may have won this bet, but he ain't shit in chess.. I demand a rematch on the 64 squares son! LOL
