Obamamania.. i.e. American Stupidity
by Troy Nkrumah
Ok so let me
make it simple and clear....
See people keep asking me about Obama.. and the assumption is, that since i lead a progressive national political organization, and since i am black, it's almost a given that i should be backing him.. Yet it is not a given.. and the assumption to me is somewhat simpleminded and lacks a clear understand of what I have been pushing for the past years...
After the shock sets in, from my "no" answer to that question, the following set of questions come back at me... usually faster than i can answer each...
"Why don't back him?" "Isn't he talking about change?" "You aren't republican are you?" "Are you supporting Hillary" and so on and so on...
The funnies thing is the limit to the questions of why I do not endorse Obama
as of the only other option is to support Hillary or some right wing Nazi conservative war monger like McCain.
Who, are those my only options? What if i choose not to vote at all? What if i choose not to participate in the anti-democratic process that we call the American Presidential Elections? What if I choose to not recognize the casting of votes for me buy some almost invisible group call the Electoral College? Or even more foreign of an idea, what if I support a 3rd party candidate?
Yes amerikkka there are independent parties that also have candidates running for office of President.. but since we do not live in a democratic society, the corporate media purposely hides that fact from the general ignorant public, and the system is set up so that those independents are blocked from every debate and every public gathering of the 2/1 party candidates. I say 2/1 because like many before me, i have recognized that the democrats and republicans have more in common then they disagree upon. Like 2 faces on 1 coin. See take out a quarter and flip i in the air.. when it comes down it can land on either one of its faces.. but when u pick up the coin.. you don't pick up a heads or a tails, you pick up a quarter. And when you go to spend it, its not worth more or less simply because when you handed it to the cashier the head side was showing.. No a quarter is still worth 25 cents no matter what side is showing. And that's exactly how i feel about the democrats and republicans.. two sides to the same coin.. neither worth a damn!
So why do i say that.. what is it that makes me feel that way.. how can i think i am right while 90 percent of the country have decided to go with one or the other side? Do i think i am smarter than everyone else, or know something that everyone else doesn't know?
Short answer... YES! Americans, in my view, are generally pretty stupid. They lack serious critical and analytical skills. They go with stuff on face value. Like an Obama, or a Hillary.
But what is it about these two that smells like dead rat carcass to me? Are they really that bad? At least they are taking about "Change".
Well yeah, but so is McCain to a certain extent. No one is trying to follow the path of the Bush dictatorship... you can't get elected on that. G.W. had to still two elections because of this inability to win by a majority of the popular vote. This meant making sure that thousands and thousands of black and white people were not allowed to vote in Ohio in 2004 and then not counting thousands of votes in Florida in 2000. So yeah of course people are talking about change..but lets be honest.. if they were really about change, why not support the various impeachment attempts that were posed to congress? Why not introduce your own impeachment procedure against the criminal actions of the Bush regime?
See i don't fall for that "change" talk because the only thing that will change is the face of the individual that's put up to the camera, yet the corporations and special interests that really control the presidency will not change.
But that's a past issue since it seems as though Bush will carryout his full term. I guess an assassins bullet is too much to hope for now.. so whatever..
But what about these new promises for change? Yeah some of them sound good if you don't know anything about presidential powers and past elections.
Universal Healthcare has been the talk for years.. yet congress opposes every effort to institute such. The president cannot force it on them and the insurance corporations make sure that the congressmen/women remain in pocket. So nope, I don't buy that one. Real universal health care is one where the government takes the insurance companies out of the picture and the doctors are on local and federal payroll just like other service providers, like garbage men, and mailman and public defenders.
See in the plans of these democrats, all they want to do is make the insurance more affordable (Obama) or mandate health insurance so that it is like car insurance and you have to have it or you get punished (Hillary).
That is not universal healthcare under any definition of the term. Examine France or Canada or Cuba or any other industrial country on this planet if you want to know what Universal Healthcare looks like. As long as you need health insurance through a private company to get adequate healthcare, you will not see "universal healthcare".
So that's point number one. I started with that because it's the biggest issue in the debates because its one that neither candidate has to follow thru with if elected. See once congress votes down their proposals they can say, "at least i tried" and then forget about it for the rest of their term. That's what democrats do. Check Bill Clinton's record.
But that's not the only reason why i haven't fallen into that mania.. there are a few others.. but instead of elaborating, i will just list them..
1. I am an anti-imperialist, while both democrats hope to extend US imperialism (i.e. economic and political domination over other nations) thru globalization and trade agreements (which are in no way agreements) or through military domination and control of national resources. Yes they talk about stopping the war but they also say that they will keep military or mercenary (Blackwater Corp) in Iraq to guard the oil.. don't want them Iraqis controlling their own oil no do we?
2. Israel. This is a no brainer for anyone that knows me. It's a deal breaker. I don't believe that the illegal state of Israel has any right to exist on Palestinian land. Israel is the equivalent if not worse then the former racist Apartheid state of South Africa. I will never support anyone that backs Israel. Just read the news any weeks news in the past 40 years and look at what the White Jews in Israel have done to the Brown Arab Muslims.
Both parties back Israel completely! They have to in order to be in office in america because the Israeli lobby is one of the most powerful in Washington. This means no matter how right Obama may be on every other point.. i cannot support someone that supports Racist Genocide of another group.. whether it be Black, Brown, Yellow, Red, or White people dying.. Genocide must be stopped!
Just yesterday the Israeli Prime Minister threatened a Holocaust against the Palestinians if they kept defending themselves against Israeli aggression. A Jew threatening a "holocaust" that is just horrible. And our tax dollars are responsible for that mess. Yes that's the deal breaker for me.
There are other issues but these top off my list of why i could never back a democrat no matter how bad the republican they are running against may be. There is no such thing as a lesser of two evils for me.. evil is evil.. and as long as the electoral system is set up so that only the 2/1 parties can hold office.. I personally can't back a presidential candidate from those parties. If that means I cant caste a vote in the election, then so be it! I rather not waste my vote on evil. because every time a child is killed in Iraq or in Palestine (like the 15 that were killed today) I would have to live with the fact that I gave my vote to the devil that did it... and that is not something I am willing to do.
Luckily this year there is a third party
candidate that I do like (Cynthia McKinney), even though I know she has no chance of winning, at least I will get to be part of a larger group
that says the hell with the imperialistic parties.. and if one of the devils political party looses by one vote to another of the devils political party .. I
will rest at night knowing that I helped stop one of two devil, by not supporting either.
How will you sleep?
I know that for many of you, you will not understand why the issue of imperialism or Israel is such a major concern for someone like me.. who lives in amerikkka and somewhat safe from those issues... but i guess that just takes us back to what i pointed out earlier.. Most amerikkkans are pretty stupid generally.. so I don't expect them to understand... but those of you who do.. well welcome to the 10 percent club. An no I am not an amerikkkan if that's what you are thinking.. yes my passport says I am, but i am not defined by a piece of paper. I rather consider myself, an Imperial Subject. Yup that's my new identity..
So folks, stop bothering me or even trying to talk to me about Obama.. i am bored with it already. Ignorance bores me... I don't wanna hear how bad McCain is.. Boring!!! I don't wanna hear about "hope".. I have been hoping all my life... and I do not wanna hear about a Black man runnig for President. There were Black women running for the nomination of the democratic party long be fore Obama.. yeah i know you never hear of Shirley Chisolm.. most (at least 90%) of Americans haven't. Remember they are mostly stupid. Many of you don't even know there is a Black woman running for the Green Party nomination now..
No go away.. go write another corny rap song about dude... or go put a bumper sticker on your car... do what you got to do but please stop trying to talk about it with me.. i am too busy actually working on the many of the issues these candidates dont seem to be talking about.. like umm, police brutality, incarceration rates, urban violence, education and social justice in general... your obamamania is disrupting my work... please keep it among the other 90% of you all!
Thanks..

p.s. And please understand, I am not comfortable with how arrogant I might sound in this blog.. but you know, when it comes to issues like these, especially amerikkkan stupidity and lives being lost due to it... I think I can live with this arrogance!
