AN INCITEMENT TO ASSASSINATION
The New York Post Page Six cartoon of Wednesday, February 18, 2009 shows one cop shooting a chimpanzee to death and his partner commenting, "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill." This cartoon makes sense only in the context of current events, where the first Black President of the United States has just developed and signed a massive stimulus bill. On its face the cartoon reinforces the earliest and crudest racist stereotypes of Black people as the "missing link," monkeys, chimps, gorillas,20etc. and appeals to the basest instincts of white racists.
But, more importantly, this cartoon implicitly suggests that the resolution to any disagreement with President Barack Hussein Obama is his assassination. It is a call to action to those elements of the electorate who vehemently refuse to accept the reality of U.S. President Barack Hussein Obama. Heretofore, the U.S. government has taken seriously any suspected threats to the President of the United States. People believed to be a threat to the President, even those who were clearly cranks and/or harmless, generated FBI surveillance, restrictions on their activities and sometimes arrests. We believe that the Post's criminal actions violate 18 US Code section 871, "Threats against the President and successors to the Presidency:"
(a) Whoever knowingly and willfully deposits for conveyance in the mail or for a delivery from any post office or by any letter carrier any letter, paper, writing, print, missive, or document containing any threat to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States, the President-elect, the Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President of the United States, or the Vice President-elect, or knowingly and willfully otherwise makes any such threat against the President, President-elect, Vice President or other officer next in order of succession to the office of President, or Vice President-elect, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.
We expect and demand that the U.S. Secret Service and Homeland Security treat this cartoon as a thinly disguised threat on the life of President Obama and immediately take=2 0the appropriate steps against the New York Post.
