Historic Day for Hip Hop Congress
Today has been a historical day for Hip Hop. Hip Hop Congress presented "A Day in the life of HHC west coast." Featuring four states of cultural and
political: Confronting problems and creating solutions all while being communicated in real time via blogs, and social networking sites.
HHC was active in the Oscar Grant rally in Sacramento which was organized as a 5 city caravan and included participants from Oakland, San Faranciso, Richmond, East Palo Alto, and Stockton California. All buses were provided by JT The Bigga Figga.
The event was supported by Righteous Movement of Sacremento, the Sacramento Hip Hop Congress Community Chapters with folks like Wes Khuhura (cofounder of Sac and San Jose Chapters) by,Gold toes of Thizz Entertainment,Rudy Fleetwood, Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums,JT The Bigga Figga ,members of panthers,kreal of SF HHX ,Wyzdom of Verbal Venom,Richard Brown of the SF Eight,and many more. Information was coordinated by President of Rondavoux Records and National Outreach Coordinator DLabrie, whose album, "Mr. Network" features M1,the Jacka, Delic and Shamako Noble on a track called, "Stay Black and Die."
M1 of Dead Prez, who has recently became HHC National Spokesperson and Midwest Icon OneBeLo (Formerly of Binary star) visited the UmojaFest P.E.A.C.E. Center (UPC) being developed in Central District of Seattle welcomed by Alpha P members Asun and Julie C, Mother and Daughter media team Maria and Imani Kang, poet Genevia Arunga of the UPC and Seattle Hip-Hop Youth Council and UPC co-founders Wyking Allah, Savior Knowledge and Omari Tahir.
From there we traveled to Olympia, Washington where the Evergreen College HHC chapter will be hosted a lecture by M1 which focused on e the
examination of the relationship between the black revolutionaries that split from the civil rights movement in the early 1960's, thus forming the group
that would become the Black Panthers, to international movements that evolved from these roots including Hip Hop.
To end the days Northwest activity, HHC members traveled with OneBeLo to Portland for his performance and to connect with HHC artist, founder of Global Fam,
and HHC Community Chapter Head Mic Crenshaw who recently released his album,"Thinking Out Loud".
All of this and more was covered in real time via twitter, face book, text and email. We invited all to participate and join us in celebrating our collective
power and vision by taking a stand for our community and our families, and celebrating the art and artists that bring us together. The process of keep things
organized and connected online was headed by Brandon Greene, Filmmaker, emcee, Producer and Creator of HHC TV who is currently involved with
the Stop The F Street Closure Coalition in Las Vegas.
Hip Hop Congress is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit whose mission is provide the tools, resources, and opportunities for the Hip Hop Generation to make an impact. Our
national conference will be held in Seattle, Washington
from July 29th to August 1st at the University of Washington.. The theme of the conference is "This is Our Time". There will be no panels. We have
partnered with Dope Emporium, Seattle's Only Hip Hop Festival, The Umojafest, 206 Zulu and National Universal Zulu Nation, The Poor Peoples Economic Human
Rights Campaign, Iron Fist Records, Hidmo, B-Girl Media, the Seattle Youth Council, Rock Rap Entertainment, the Coalition to Protect Public Housing, the
Mississippi Artists and Producers Coalition, Culture Shock Camp, Driver4hHire.biz, BTU and others to bring a conference that is about creating leadership,
supporting leadership, holding leadership accountable and being accountable to ourselves. We invite our chapters, artists, partners and friends to join
in.
