By Paradise Gray

I found the article "Notoriously Overrated: What was so Big about Biggie Smalls?"

by Minister Paul Scott distasteful and totally missing the point. While I consider

Min. Paul Scott a good brother and a friend, I do not agree with his opinion of

The Notorious B.I.G.

"Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one, and most of them stink!"

Here's my take on...

I am amazed how a brother who was once part of one of the most concious groups off all-time could find issue with Min. Paul Scott's commentary concerning
Biggie and this new movie that's coming out. Sometimes it seems that some of these rappers (even so-called koncious ones) have a code of silience,
similar to the 'pigs.' When these rappers push nonsense that is detrimental to the masses - call these fools out. Let's make it uncomfortable
for ignorance. Biggie was...

B Lo Tim, Tupac did have a lot of political content, though. When he started off he was more political. He was even political when he started getting into to
trouble, the case with the woman, etc. It was really when Suge Knight bailed him out and signed him when he became the typical gangsta rapper. But I agree
with you in the sense that the persona Tupac had before his death, being a Death Row gangsta, etc., is the persona many in the industry want us to remember him
by. It's...

In all honesty i think BIG( rip) is overrated especially by those who want to compare him to Tupac. I find the comparison btwn the 2 uncalled for, its a
marketing tool by Puffy and otha crooked executives. Hw in the world can you put these men in the same line? plain marketing, Pac overshadows Big in every
aspect. Think wat u wanna think but Africa knows the true. Big deserves respect but dont throw him in the same line as Mr Shakur( GOAT).

When it comes to the biggie vs 2pac debate, if we're talking flow, Biggie wins hands down... he flowed like a sax player, etc.
When people say pac was the best rapper what they mean is that he was the best human being, ...etc (Humpty explains why in Thug Angel dvd)

In a pac interview he mentions how it was fashionable at one point for lots of rappers to be talking about italian/mafia/gangsta things but as he said, all
these n****z like is the sound of an italian n****z...

thanks for this second opinion and thoughtful critique, Paradise. You are spot-on when you say comparing Biggie to Fred Hampton isn't fair to either man.
In a sense, both were murdered by "the system" but the comparison ends there. We can't force social awareness or political consciousness down
anyone's throat, as Scott attempted to do after the fact in his Biggie critique. And lack of political consciousness has absolutely nothing to do with how
well a rapper flows....

When I reference Biggie I like to talk to people from Brooklyn (Richmond Va is full of them). What I get from them is not so much what they say but how they
feel. There's a lot of love and admiration for this man. Not just posthumous either. He was a hero in their eyes before his death. As a man what made
Biggie so loved it seems was not just his success in overcoming adversity, but his realization of his own vulnerabilities, insecurities and his willingness to
face them.

So this article is saying he's not overrated because...........??? Everything Mr.Gray said could be true but line for line song for song he fails to match
up with dozens of MCs who did it better. So the question is why is he thrust on us as the GOAT when it doesn't pass the most basic lyrical comparison?

I believe the industry promotes him as GOAT for 2 reasons 1: Biggie Smalls will never come out against the Iraq War, support the Jenna 6, tell the world GWB
don't like...
