No, I don't believe that the current state of hip hop is 'Mentally Challenged' music. Right now, I feel as though hip hop is in a place/mood/vibe of just 'having fun', just as 'Gangsta rap' dominated the 90's. Don't worry though, because in a few years, the mood/vibe of hip hop will be something else entirely.

Rock the Bells concert the crowd was mainly late first generation hip-hop (27 to 35 - head of households). No kids, they selling beer, we partied hard. Cats pulling out in minivans.

Correction: First generation hip hop is (45 to 35 age demographic), I know I was there, living in NY during the birthing stages of rap. The first lyrics I heard were so simplistic and pure at a high school party in 1978 before one verse was put on wax. I lived it. I'm 45...
