AN OPEN LETTER TO JR WRITER & THE DIPSET

BY IVAN SANCHEZ

Writing about the exploitation of the hip hop culture is nothing new to me.

But it's usually me questioning the unethical behavior of record label executives, rappers continuing to brainwash the culture with taglines like,
"snitches catch stitches" or so-called MC's mic-controlling their way through another bullshit tale of how gangster
they were last week when they bodied a few bootleggers.

Sounds good when...

But on to the post...
I agree with some when they say it may be JDL's fault for becoming who he is by his own hand, but as we all know drugs can take over a person's life
without hesitation and without prejudice. I respect JDL for his contribution to Hip-Hop and would hope...

years. Since I was 13 years old and I first got wind of hip hop growing up in Harlem right on 125th street, it is pretty safe to say J.D.L. with that voice was
the first emcee I can say I really dug. Then it was Dota Rock, Caz and Kool Moe Dee. Dam near 25 years later J.D.L. became my very first interview at the site....

Davey... I thought no one else was thinking about doing that! There is a recent hip-hop song going around in Texas that says to do just that. They state how we
need to put a hit out on the police that murdered Sean Bell, and that kid in Inglewood. Supposedly it features someone who actually killed a cop (or wounded
one). For every unarmed citizen they murder in chilly cold blood, we should take one of theirs. Where are the real gangsters and ballers? Some one to carry out
the hit, and someone...

I caqn't speak specifically to the case of JR Writer. There may or may not have been a misinterpretation of intentions. But with that being said, thats big
time cop out to let people slide who are counter productive to the work most of us our putting in.. Having swagger can be good at times, but not if it results
in increased Black on Black crime. Its not a mistake when people get killed..

Blacks tend to judge the victims without analyzing or judging the victimizers. First off, I'm anti drug abuse, anti self destruction, and anti alot of
stuff. You've got to repsect the Swagga that Jim Jones, Jewlz, Camron and many strong black men bring to life. Yea, it is mostly entertainment. And real
life is much realer and frightening that most people want to show. But its good to see black people doing business and making money even if they fuck it up

I seriously doubt it was their intention to put JDL "on front street" like that. I think, as the video shows, they were getting ready to leave and
JDL just happened to walk by. They then gave him the camera time because he was vouching for JR's rhyming skills. I seriously doubt that DipsetTV went
looking for an old pioneer. In New York, as you may know, pioneers and has-beens walk around like everyone else in various places. When I referred to reaching,

DallasBonds - I respect your comment and appreciate your words but I'm wondering if you could clarify what the author (me) is reaching for. I didn't
write the piece to attack these guys, I wrote the piece in hopes that they wake up and stop selling their own people like slaves. When I saw the video I
basically saw some young cats putting a clown suit on a forefather of hip hop and making him dance around for their profit. I envisioned a million people
outside of the culture looking in...

Hmmm, I saw it and... I think the author is reaching. He just didnt want to see JDL like that. But reality is as reality does. He seemed coherent enough to
speak properly and still "eat" 90% of the garbage MCs coming out of NY right now. I hope JR actually puts him on a track or something. Seems like its
only Southern rappers reaching out to the legends right now. JDL is heavy on drugs and is still carrying himself like royalty and could actually still be
working. Cant wait till he...
